A DVD dirve is useless ? A 6 and 4 ddr ram are old ? Every day more and more we live in a throw away society. Yes this PC might be old but if it still functions or if it can be used for parts why not do that ? There are people that do not have the money to purchase a PC or ridiculously expensive over priced cell phones every year . That this PC or components are not worthy of playing complicated video games ? Maybe . But it might help some kid with home work or a senior citizen learn computing . I sell electronics ( home stereo components, PCs, etc etc ) that might be old but they still have plenty of life left in them. Instead of them going into a landfill , they go into someone's home for many more years of service.

im building a dell optilex 3040 mt i paid $35 that came with an i5 6500 4gb ram no os no hdd. But im so far $72 bucks for 2 500gb HDD, a 120gb ssd, a 16gb kit of ram and the pc, now im wondering of that same gpu will work? if not im thinking a dell radeon r7 450? either way its about 25 bucks or so, which one do you reccomend?

You can buy new thinkcentre M70s i5 14600 for 800 with 310 watt. Interesting to know if it fits like lp 4060 🙂 Why bother with gaming pc if you can buy a thinkcentre for 1200 all in?

My office PC is faster than my gaming PC and the specs are not as good as the gaming PC is the reason why it’s faster is because the hard drive and my PC gaming PC has SSD for me. Hard drives are twice as fast as SSD so I wouldn’t really spend money on upgrading them because they’re basically very similar except SSD last longer and they are newer. It just depends on how much terabytes and megabytes you have on each.

so why wouldn't i just plug something into those usb headers instead of jumpering ? it still throws the error?

I've one HP Elite 8100 lying in a store of my home covered with plastic paper. Specifications are Intel core i7 1st gen, 4GB RAM, and a dedicated GPU Nvidia nvs300, i'm thinking of upgrading the SSD and RAM, maybe the CPU as well. This is faster than my new laptop, I'm geared up to upgrade it again.

Im snitching off on my trick with that one computer if they tested like that it needs all the stand off on the board for one I found this out and the other is sometimes you gotta reseat the CPU

Sorry about the roach infestation, but the parts you got was worth it for at least 2 great builds. Of course the white case was a dud, but that’s where you could get a cheap $49 case such as the Thermaltake V100 if you don’t like to do RGB, or the simple basic RGB build in a cheap budget case.

is it just me or does that chipset look like it doesn't have a heat sink. all of my gpus i have had looks like the mobo with those odd patterns idk if its from vaping or not

I got lucky, my gpu was stuck and no matter what tool I used the clip wouldn't budge, after a while of trying to release the clip, it finally broke but didn't damage the pci port.

The B450 boards have been the unrecognized champ of the AM4 platform. Solid, reliable and capable of running the entire AM4 series of Ryzen CPUs. Value for dollars is very very high. When you said it had a R5 4500 in it, I knew there wouldn't be any problem with it. Had there been, a BIOS update to fix it has been available for several years. Put in something like your 580 and the cheap gaming box appears. BTW my B450 board has had a 1600, 3600 and is currently rocking a 5700X. Still have room to run a 5800X3D in it, should I find my price.

AMD picky with memory? uh its the other way around, Intel is a bitch dealing with memory. Half of them wont boot unless memory is the exact speed it needs, go any lower or higher and it just fails to post. Only the "K" series doesn't care.

Throw some more drives into it, RAID them, install TrueNAS and use it for network storage. Or turn it into a media server.. There's stacks of stuff you can do with an old PC.

13:48 Funnily enough I just picked up this exact motherboard in recent deal. In the deal I got a 650 EVGA gold PSU and the board for $60, so not amazing but decent. I paired it with an AliExpress Ryzen 5 3500 ($50), free patriot DDR4 someone gave me, a GTX 1070($65) and coolermaster cooler box case ($40). Last thing is storage and it’s about a $250 build

Reminds me when used to mod Xbox systems. Before taking them in the house I would saran wrap the whole thing and leave it in the garage for a week. This is because another modder told me he opened one up and a flood of tiny roaches flooded his garage. So gross. He had to hir3 an exterminator to get rid of them. I was never going to let that happen.
